College Mourning Death of Student from Byron

Nevada, MO (KROC-AM News)- A college in southwest Missouri is mourning the loss of a student from the Rochester area.

Cottey College is located in Nevada, MO, which is just under 100 miles south of Kansas City. The college released a statement Thursday regarding the unexpected death of a student from Byron.

The student is identified as Ella Page. The statement says Page passed away on Wednesday at her off-campus residence.

Page was a senior majoring in Business Administration and was also a member of the college’s cross-country and indoor and outdoor track teams. Officials at the college canceled class Wednesday afternoon and Thursday and called off events and activities that were scheduled for Thursday.

The campus community gathered at the college’s chapel Wednesday evening. Members of the college are also being offered grief counseling and other support services.
