Belview, MN (KROC-AM News)- A three vehicle collision involving a semi in western Minnesota claimed the life of an Iowa man Wednesday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the crash along Hwy. 19 in Redwood County. The collision occurred shortly before 1 p.m. about 30 miles northeast of Marshall. 

The state crash report indicates a sedan traveling in the eastbound lane of Hwy. 19 and semi in the westbound lane of the highway collided at an intersection. An SUV, also in the eastbound lane, was hit by the sedan after it collided with the semi.

The sedan driver, identified as 41-year-old John Michael Mcwhorter of Spirit Lake, IA, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver has been identified as 42-year-old James Randall Adkins of Colorado.

He and the SUV driver, identified as 22-year-old Logan Jay Schreifels of Vesta, MN, were not hurt. 

The report indicates all three drivers were buckled up and that alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash.
