The expansion of the Ronald McDonald House has been one of the many construction projects going on in Rochester this summer but is filling a need for so many families that visit our town.  A monumental part of the construction will be placed soon and the Ronald McDonald House is inviting the community to leave their mark on the final structural beam.
I drove by the Ronald McDonald House for many years before actually stepping inside.  I knew the story of why this place is so important because my own family benefited from the house in Des Moines over 20 years ago.  What I didn't realize was how many families weren't able to use the Rochester house due to lack of space over the last few years.
According to the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester website, in the last 4 years, over 4,000 families were turned away due to a lack of available rooms.  To give you an idea of how many people that truly is...it is close to the total number of students we have at Century High School, John Marshall High School, and Mayo High School.  Wow!
The entire community is invited to sign the final structural beam for the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester because this expansion to serve others is only possible because of a community joining together in support.
"We invite the entire Rochester community to sign the beam with their name, names of loved ones and/or messages of love and hope!" - Ronald McDonald House of Rochester
Where to Sign the Beam:
  • Monday, September 3rd through Wednesday, September 5th
  • No appointment necessary, come when it works best for you!
  • Stop by the front desk, ask for a Sharpie
