MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis Police say 19 people were arrested after crowds once again filled the streets of the Dinkytown neighborhood following the Gophers' NCAA hockey title game loss.

Union College defeated Minnesota 7-4 Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. But crowds spilled into Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota campus after the game.

Police say in a statement that two known incidents of arson were reported, along with an undetermined amount of property damage. They say no law enforcement members were injured but declined to release further details.

The Minnesota Daily reports police had vowed to thwart possible unrest following Saturday's game, in part because of the rowdy crowd that filled the streets after the team's dramatic win in Thursday's semifinal game. The Daily says officers were armed with zip ties and nonlethal weapons that were fired into the crowd as a mounted patrol unit advanced and helicopters circled overhead.

The Minneapolis police chief joined her fellow officers at last night's show of force, saying they were there to ensure public safety.  Most of the crowd dispersed when police began marching their horses down the street.
