(CORRECTION) WSU Cleared of Wrongdoing in Case Involving Coach

WINONA, Minn. (AP) — In a story Feb. 2, The Associated Press reported that Winona State University's president said an independent investigation of a complaint against former men's basketball coach Mike Leaf found no evidence of wrongdoing.

The story should have specified that the investigation found no wrongdoing by the university in its handling of the complaint against Leaf. The investigation did not address the merit of the accusations against Leaf.

WINONA, Minn. (AP) — Winona State University’s president says an independent investigation into complaints against former men’s basketball coach Mike Leaf has found no evidence of wrongdoing.

The investigation began in June after a basketball player accused Leaf of making unwanted sexual advances. Leaf was placed on administrative leave and was barred from campus. He chose to resign his position.

WSU President Scott Olson told the Winona Daily News Tuesday that the investigation found no evidence of a discriminatory act or any abuse of students. Olson also says there was no evidence the athletic staff was trying to hide anything.

Longtime employment attorney Steven Gunn conducted the investigation.
