Wabasha, MN (KROC-AM News) - Three people were critically injured in two motorcycle crashes in southern Minnesota over the weekend.

State Patrol Investigating Separate Weekend Motorcycle Crashes

One of the crashes occurred in Wabasha County on Sunday morning. The State Patrol says a motorcycle traveling south on Highway 61 collided with a deer approximately 2 miles south of Wabasha. The crash was reported around 11:20 a.m.

Wabasha County Deer Collision Leaves Motorcycle Rider Critically Hurt

The State Patrol identified the injured motorcyclist as 66-year-old David Deering of Minnesota City. The crash report indicates he was initially transported to a Wabasha hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries.

Critical Injury Crash Caused by U-Turn

Two other people suffered life-threatening injuries when the motorcycle they were riding collided with an SUV at an intersection in Farmington Saturday evening. The State Patrol says the crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. when the driver of the SUV attempted to make a U-turn on Highway 3 and collided with the motorcycle.

Man and Woman From Farmington Sustained Life Threatening Injuries

The State Patrol identified the motorcycle driver as 58-year-old Lonnie Lamote and his passenger as 60-year-old Julie Freeborn. Both are residents of Farmington and were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV, 36-year-old Dennis Aguilar of Lakeville, and his passenger were not injured in the crash.

The State Patrol says alcohol was not suspected in either incident.
