Dayton Begins New Term, Vows More Education Initiatives
Governor Dayton and the state’s other constitutional officers were sworn in for their new terms Monday.
In his inaugural speech, Dayton said he will recommend the state legislature use the projected budget surplus to " invest in a better future – first and foremost, by investing it in Excellent Education. This means elevating our citizens’ educations from good to excellent. "
The 2015 session of the Minnesota legislature begins Tuesday. Democrats lost control of the Minnesota House in the November election, meaning Dayton and the Senate leaders will have to work with the new Republican majority on proposed legislation.
