Inver Grove Heights, MN (KROC-AM News) - An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's office is assisting the Inver Grove Heights fire department in the investigation of a fatal fire.

A news release says the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in a multi-family building shortly before 9 PM Sunday. The early reports also indicated someone might be inside the burning structure.

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene found heavy fire and smoke and had to wait for fire crews to knock down the flames before beginning a search of the building. Eventually, they were able to enter and found the victim.

The name of the person who died has not been released. The news release says the fire was confined to the apartment unit where the victim was found and there were no other injuries.
