Bemidji, MN (KROC AM News) - A young northern Minnesota woman is the latest to die in a traffic wreck in the state this week.

The most recent deadly wreck happened just after midnight Wednesday on a rural road in Cass County and involved two vehicles. And it may have involved alcohol.

The Minnesota State Patrol says a pickup truck and a car collided head-on north of Leech Lake. The woman driving the car was killed. She was identified as 23-year-old Darlene Johnson of Bemidji. She died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was identified as 24-year-old Steven Lasser of Roseville. He suffered life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol report indicates he may have been drinking.

A motorcyclist was killed just before midnight Wednesday near the Prairie Island Resort and Casino in Red Wing. The victim’s name hasn’t been released.

At least four other people have died in traffic wrecks in Minnesota since Sunday.
