Deaths of Man & Woman in Small Minnesota Town Under Investigation
Lake Benton, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in rural southwestern Minnesota are investigating the deaths of a man and woman.
A news release issued by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Friday says deputies were dispatched to a medical call shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The call came from a home in the small town of Lake Benton, which is about 30 miles southwest of Marshal.
Upon arrival deputies located a deceased woman and a man suffering from critical injuries. The man was taken from the scene to a hospital in nearby Tyler where he later died from his injuries.
Law enforcement reported recovering a gun at the scene. The man and woman’s bodies were transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
Their names will be released pending the autopsy results and notification of next of kin, the news release says. The Minnesota BCA and Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force are investigating the deaths.
The preliminary investigation results indicate the deaths are the result of an isolated incident.
