Delta May Now Be Planning a Premium Upgrade at MSP Airport
If you like traveling-- and you don't mind spending some extra money-- you'll really like this major upgrade that Delta Air Lines is bringing to Minnesota's biggest airport.
Delta One Lounge Could Be Coming to MSP Airport
The good news just keeps on coming for Minnesota fliers who use our state's biggest airport. You might recall that in September of 2025, I wrote a story about how the 2025 Airport Satisfaction Survey from noted consumer research firm J.D. Power once again confirmed that the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) near Bloomington is the Top Airport in the U.S. for Customer Satisfaction.
That ranking, which was based on thousands of surveys from U.S. and Canadian travelers, ranked MSP first in the Mega Airport category for the second year in a row. MSP also topped the J.D. Power survey back in 2022.

Then, in December, I wrote about how MSP Airport had unveiled the largest renovation of Terminal 1 in the airport's history. According to the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which operates MSP, the project was a joint venture with Delta Air Lines. That massive $242 million construction project was managed by Delta and helped modernize six of the terminal’s seven concourses and approximately 75 Delta gate hold rooms.
What Is a Delta One Lounge?
And now, there's word-- kind of-- that Delta Air Lines is set to add a fancy new Delta One Lounge at MSP. I say 'kind of,' because Delta itself hasn't officially announced these plans, but several industry sites have gathered some intel that all points to MSP being home to a new Sky One Lounge in the future.

Before we go any further, just what is a Delta One Lounge? Why, it's Delta's premier, most exclusive airport experience. Kyle Potter, with Minnesota-based Thrifty Traveler, noted that in order to enter a Delta One Lounge, you need 'a business class ticket with Delta or one of its partners like Air France or KLM to get inside. No credit cards, no pricey lounge memberships will do,' Potter said, as is currently the case for entry into any of Delta's Sky Clubs.
Delta Air Lines currently operates four of these ultra-fancy Delta One Lounges at the following airports:
- John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York
- Los Angeles International Airport
- Boston Logan International Airport
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
Where Could the New Delta One Lounge Be Located at MSP?
While there's been no official word from Delta, Potter notes that Delta has apparently staked out an area in the upper level of MSP's renovated Concourse G, not too far from where opened a new Sky Club back in 2023.
And since there's been no official confirmation from Delta, just *when* this swanky new Delta One Lounge could open is still up in the air-- pun intended! When it does, though, it will be just the latest feather in MSP's impressive cap.
If you recall, in 2024, MSP was again named the best not just in the U.S., but on the entire North American continent according to the ASQ Awards and Recognition survey. And, MSP was also named the number one U.S. airport in the 2024 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards.
And just last year, MSP was singled out as the best airport in the country when it comes to flight disruptions. Or specifically, when it comes to minimizing those flight disruptions. And in September, Delta Air Lines, the biggest carrier at MSP, was named the best on-time airline in the U.S. last summer.
