Deported After Deadly MN Crash – Woman Admits to Illegal Reentry
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Guatemalan woman who caused a traffic wreck that killed four children on a school bus in western Minnesota has pleaded guilty to federal charges connected to her decision to illegally reenter the U.S.
Federal prosecutors say 36-year-old Olga Marina Franco Del-Cid entered into a plea deal Monday in Minneapolis and admitted to one count of illegal reentry after removal and one count of false representation of a social security number. She was arrested last November after authorities discovered she was living in the Twin Cities.
Del-Cid was deported in 2016 following her release from prison after serving her sentence for multiple criminal vehicular homicide convictions. She was found guilty of the charges in 2008 after she drove through a stop sign along a highway in Lyon County and smashed into a school bus, resulting in the deaths of four children.
