Deputy Shoots, Wounds Man After Altercation In Kensington
KENSINGTON (AP) -- Authorities in western Minnesota say a Douglas County sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a man after an altercation with deputies.
Three Douglas County deputies and a Grant County deputy were at the scene of the officer-involved shooting that happened just before 1 a.m. Tuesday in Kensington. One Douglas County deputy discharged his gun.
The shooting happened near the West Central Area South Elementary School. Classes were canceled Tuesday, but authorities say the incident is not connected to the school, and that the public is not in danger.
Two Douglas County deputies were treated for injuries at an Alexandria Hospital and released.
The man who was shot was hospitalized in St. Cloud after undergoing surgery.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has asked the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate.
