Turns out you don't need to go to New York to see the Statue of Liberty because we have our very own right here in Minnesota! I never knew this existed until I saw a post on Facebook and I'm surprised I haven't come across her myself.

The Minnesota Statue of Liberty is nowhere near the same size as the actual one in New York, ours is a much smaller version. Like a mini Statue of Liberty.

Why Does Minnesota Have a Mini Statue of Liberty?

The Minnesota Statue of Liberty was done in 1976 by a guy named Raymond E. Bartholdi. He's a Minnesotan who is actually a descendant of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, one of the sculptors of the original Statue of Liberty. It was made "as a bicentennial project 'for the children of Duluth'". Yep, our mini Statue of Liberty is in the Duluth area.

Lake Superior Magazine writes that "[t]his statue is one of several small castings produced by Bartholdi, according to the Duluth Public Art and Artist Directory." So you can find these little ladies all over, which is kind of like a fun scavenger hunt.

Where You Can Find the Minnesota Statue of Liberty

Our own replica of the Statue of Liberty is in Duluth near the shores of Lake Superior. If you're on the hunt for her, she's between the Great Lakes Aquarium and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

I mentioned earlier that I'm surprised I haven't come across her because I've been to Duluth enough times that I would think I would have seen her! A while back I even took a trip with friends up there and we were walking right by the aquarium, I'm surprised we didn't notice it.

Duluth Airbnb Complete with Outdoor Hot Tub, Great Views, and the Only Dome in the Area

An Airbnb in Duluth, Minnesota caught my attention because of the toasty warm, outdoor hot tub. After looking at more of the home, it looks like an incredibly fun place to stay!
