Driver Flees After Crashing Into Rochester Construction Site
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Authorities are trying to find a Rochester man who made a mess of a construction site while trying to get away from an Olmsted County deputy.
The deputy was behind a stopped vehicle at the intersection of Broadway and Civic Center Dr. around 6:30 PM Tuesday when he noticed its driver slump over. When the deputy activated his lights and siren, the driver took off.
He turned into the construction zone of a hotel being built on the former American Legion site along 1st Ave and drove through a security fence. He also crashed into an electric box, a porta potty and hit a skid loader. The vehicle came to a stop after becoming entangled in 200 feet of chain-link fencing and the driver got out and fled on foot.
There was no damage estimate as of Wednesday morning.
