Elderly Southern Minnesota Farmer Dies In Tractor Mishap
Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - A farming-related mishap on Monday claimed the life of an elderly man on a southern Minnesota farm.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a rural property just north of Mankato Monday afternoon after receiving reports of a farm accident. When they arrived, they discovered that 82-year-old Gerald Orville Fredricks had been run over by his tractor in the yard at his residence.

A news release says the preliminary investigation suggests the victim may have unintentionally started the tractor while it was in gear and he was standing near a rear tire. The tractor eventually stopped when it ran into an UTV parked in front of it.
Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene, but were unsuccessful.
Blue Earth County personnel were assisted by members of the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office, the Kasota Fire Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and Mayo One also responded to the tragic incident.
