ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — The ex-girlfriend of a man charged with killing a Mendota Heights police officer testified that Brian Fitch Sr. told her he'd shoot an officer if he was pulled over.

Fitch is charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Officer Scott Patrick.

On Friday, his ex-girlfriend Taya Moran testified that the night before the July shooting, Fitch had chastised her for giving his name to police and said he'd shoot a cop.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that on cross examination, defense attorney Lauri Traub questioned why Moran didn't tell police about Fitch's alleged statement when they first interviewed her, suggesting she and another man concocted the story.
