Facebook Photo Led to Rochester Gun Incident
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A woman was arrested by Rochester Police Friday evening based on accusations that she had threatened a young man with a gun.
Police Captain John Sherwin says officers were called to the Andover Apartments in the 1900 block of 8 ½ Street Southeast around 6:30 that evening because of reports of a woman with a handgun. When they arrived, they found a woman matching the description sitting on the porch of a residence. Sherwin says she was very cooperative and told the officers she had been upset because Sheriff’s Deputies looking for a man wanted on an arrest warrant paid her a visit in July after they found a photo of him standing in front of her car posted on Facebook.
The woman told the officers she does not know the 18-year-old man, but spotted him on Friday and went to ask him to delete the photo from the social media site. She indicated the conversation escalated into a physical altercation and she got her gun to protect herself and her daughter.
Captain Sherwin says the 18-year-old man and other witnesses shared a sharply different version of the events. He told officers he was being confronted by 43-year-old Carrie Kukuzke about the Facebook when she pointed the gun at his head.
Kukuzke took the officers to the gun, which was checked and found to be stolen. Sherwin says Kukuzke was booked in the Olmsted County Jail on a felony assault charge.
