A statement from Rice County Attorney John Fossum says 52-year-old Leslie Sanders was initially charged with first-degree assault for repeatedly punching 79-year-old Larry Meyers near Dundas on June 27.
Meyers was initially taken to a Northfield hospital before being transferred for further care for a significant brain injury in Minneapolis. He was taken off life support and died on Wednesday, the statement says.
