Farmer’s Almanac Spring Prediction For Minnesota Is Now Here

Sure, we’ve got another cold snap staring us in the face, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start daydreaming about spring. After all, winter can’t last forever… right?

The Groundhog did his best to crush our spring dreams with his “six more weeks of winter” nonsense, but let’s be real: he’s a furry little guy, not a weather expert.

So, what does The Old Farmer’s Almanac have to say about what’s coming? And, more importantly, are we in for a smooth transition into warmer weather, or should we keep those winter coats on standby?

Now, I don’t want to jinx us and accidentally manifest a March blizzard (seriously, knock on wood), but let’s just take a moment to appreciate that winter in Minnesota has been… well, kind of chill. Not chill as in freezing, but chill as in manageable.

We’ve had very little snow and fairly average temps most of the season, which, considering we live in one of the coldest places in the country - is kind of a win.

So, what is spring going to look like? The 2025 Old Farmer’s Almanac takes a big-picture approach to forecasting, using a mix of sun cycles, weather patterns, and history to predict the season ahead.

Overall, they predict that the spring weather will be warmer-than-normal temperatures for most of the country, with a few exceptions. Is Minnesota one of those exceptions?

Fortunately, NO! Minnesota - along with the upper half of Wisconsin - is actually looking super promising with temperatures a full 3°F above average! Not too shabby!

As for precipitation? The northern part of the state will be drier, while the southern half could see more rain than usual. So, depending on where you are, you might be trading snow shovels for rain boots.

Either way, the promise of spring is finally within reach - now we just have to survive this last (hopefully last?) cold snap!
