That’s according to a news release issued by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. The deadly crash occurred around 3:40 p.m.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash in rural Chisholm and found a side-by-side ATV upright with roof damage.
Deputies determined the ATV had been involved in a rollover crash and its occupants were thrown from the machine, officials say.
The preliminary investigation determined that neither one of the two men riding the ATV were buckled up or wearing a helmet, the news release says.

The passenger, described as a 31-year-old man from Hibbing, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 29-year-old man from Chisholm was driving the ATV. He was taken to a hospital in Hibbing where he was treated and released.
The names of the ATV occupants have not yet been released. Authorities say alcohol, speed and lack of use of safety measures were contributing factors in the deadly crash.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Midwest Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the fatality.
