The Minnesota State Patrol incident report says Bloomington police were pursuing a Honda Accord driven by 25-year-old Abdeljabar Ahmed Sharif of Minneapolis. The Accord jumped the median, left the roadway then struck a pillar as it attempted to negotiate a curve on an entrance ramp from northbound Hwy. 77 to eastbound I-494 around 4:30 p.m.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Abdikadir Issack of Wilmar, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sharif and a second passenger in the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Kanani Legese of Minneapolis, suffered what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Sharif was brought to a hospital for further treatment while Legese did not require transportation for further care from the scene. The report indicates investigators don’t know if any of the occupants were buckled or if alcohol was a factor in causing the deadly crash.
