Park Rapids, MN (MinnesotaNow)- An elderly woman lost her life in a crash on a rural Minnesota highway on Tuesday.

The State Patrol is describing the fatality as a head-on crash. The drivers were the only people involved.

First responders were called to the scene of the deadly collision shortly after 12 p.m.

85-Year-Old Minnesota Woman Killed in Head-on Crash With Pick-up

The deadly crash occurred on Hwy. 34 just east of Park Rapids. An eastbound car had crossed the center line and collided with a westbound small pickup truck head-on, the state crash report says. 


An 80-year-old woman from Nevis, MN was driving the car and lost her life in the crash. The State Patrol is planning to release her name and more information about her death Wednesday afternoon. 

85-year-old Noel Francis Sletten of Park Rapids was identified as the driver of the pick-up. 

He was transported to a hospital in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol says.
