DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The Duluth Fire Department says one person was killed Sunday in a morning apartment fire.
Crews responding to an automatic fire alarm arrived at the Meridian Apartments about 9:20 a.m. Sunday and found smoke in the hallway amid reports of a person who was possibly still in the apartment.
Firefighters found the blaze confined to an apartment on the first floor. They entered through heavy smoke and removed a burn victim who was in the living room. The victim was transported to a local hospital but died.
The cause of the fire and death remain under investigation.
