The motorcycle operator, who was traveling west on Hwy. 16, lost control of the motorcycle after trying to avoid a collision with the minivan, the state crash report says.

Spring Valley, MN (KROC-AM News)- A motorcyclist lost his life in a crash south of Rochester Thursday afternoon.

Information released by the State Patrol indicates the fatality happened as a strong storm made its way across southeast Minnesota. 

A minivan carrying a passenger was also involved in the fatal incident in Mower County

Grand Meadow Motorcyclist Dies After Trying to Avoid Crash With Minivan on Hwy. 63

The deadly crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 63 and Hwy. 16, which is about 25 miles south of Rochester.

The van was heading south on Hwy. 63 and was attempting to make a left turn to eastbound Hwy. 16/southbound Hwy. 63. 

The motorcycle operator, who was traveling west on Hwy. 16, lost control of the motorcycle after trying to avoid a collision with the minivan, the state crash report says. 

62-year-old Kenneth Edward Tlougan of Grand Meadow was driving the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the State Patrol. 

18-year-old Corryn Phoenix Besse was identified as the minivan driver. The State Patrol says the young Byron woman and a 46-year-old Byron woman riding with her were not hurt.

Tlougan was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the fatal crash, the state crash report indicates. 

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Meadow Fire Department and Grand Meadow Ambulance also responded to the scene of the deadly crash.
