Austin, MN (KROC AM News) – The Austin Police Dept has released information on a fatal police-related shooting.

The department says some of its officers and Mower County deputies were sent to a residence to check a 911 call involving a domestic disturbance in the 1,000 block of 8th Ave SW around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The department says during the encounter, one of the officers shot an adult male. The man was first transported to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Austin and later airlifted to St. Marys where he died. The man’s identity is expected to be released at a later time.

One of the officers at the scene was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The Minnesota BCA has taken over the investigation.
