New London, MN (KROC-AM News)- There was a deadly crash at a rural Minnesota intersection involving a semi truck and SUV on Wednesday.

The State Patrol responded to the collision shortly after 11 a.m. Two people were in the SUV and the driver was the lone occupant in the semi truck. 

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 9, which is about 19 miles north of Willmar in Kandiyohi County. The preliminary crash report says the semi was traveling north on Hwy. 71 when it collided with the eastbound SUV in the intersection.

East and westbound Hwy. 9 traffic is controlled by a stop sign at the intersection. The fatal crash victim or victims were in the SUV.

The occupants of the SUV are residents of Cambridge, MN. The driver is described as an 80-year-old man and the passenger is described as a 76-year-old woman. 

The State Patrol plans to release the names and conditions of the SUV Thursday afternoon. 

The truck driver, identified as 67-year-old Bruce John Feldman of Renville, suffered what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene.
