Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in Wabasha County are investigating a deadly crash involving a side-by-side UTV and pick-up truck.

Wabasha County Sheriff Rodney Bartsh says the fatality happened on Saturday evening. 

Two people were riding in the UTV and the driver was the sole occupant of the pick-up.

UTV Driver Dies in Crash With Pick-up Truck Near Elgin, MN Saturday Evening

Bartsh said deputies responded to the collision in the 31000 block of Wabasha County Rd. 67, which is two miles west of Elgin, shortly after 6:45 p.m.

Deputies identified the UTV operator as 24-year-old Skyler Helgeson. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 30 minutes after first responders arrived, Bartsh said. 

Authorities identified Jared Haugen as the passenger and 34-year-old Jeffrey Timm as the pick-up driver. An update on the conditions of Haugen and Timm is not available. 

Bartsh says the fatality is under investigation.

The Plainview Police Department, Elgin Fire Department, Elgin Ambulance, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Mayo One Helicopter, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the deadly crash.
