Minneapolis Man Gets Prison Sentence for Feeding Our Future Fraud Conviction

Federal Court documents say 65-year-old Abdullahe Nur Jesow of Minneapolis claimed to have served 1.7 million meals to kids during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He indicated to have served the food out of an event space he owned on Lake St. in Minneapolis called Benadir Hall through a non-profit he served as secretary for.

Jesow and a catering company that claimed to have provided the food were given $4,286,088 for the meals they purported to have served, according to court documents.

Federal investigators found only a fraction of those meals were served, the news release indicates.

Stolen Funds Spent for Personal Benefit

Jesow was accused of spending the stolen money on a house in Columbia Heights and for other personal benefits.

"The sentence handed down today should be a clear message to those who would seek to enrich themselves by defrauding critical child nutrition programs," said FBI Minneapolis Division Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson

He was sentenced to 43 months in prison and two years of supervised release. Jesow is also ordered to pay $866,458 in restitution.
