Fillmore County Jail Inmate’s Death Investigated

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department has ordered an independent investigation into the death of an inmate in the county’s jail.

Sheriff Daryl Jensen says 32-year-old Brian Abbs was found unresponsive in his jail cell late Friday morning. The jail staff performed CPR on Abbs before he was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he died on Sunday.

Sheriff Jensen says the Waseca County Sheriff’s Department will conduct the investigation into Abb’s death and he expects a report in the next 30 to 60 days.

Abbs was arrested last Tuesday on a felony warrant for a Sex Offender Registration Violation and was being held on $2,000 bail.
