Camping is one of my favorite things to do during the summer in Minnesota. It's hard to beat the vibes of a relaxing weekend, enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

We're lucky because Minnesota is packed with amazing campgrounds. The Minnesota DNR says our state forests alone offer 46 campgrounds with 1,000 campsites, and our state parks have over 5,000 campsites.

If you don't know what you're looking for, picking the perfect campsite might seem overwhelming, but the list below can help.

The Shipwreck Creek Campground has 46 drive-in sites with electric hookups. If you're up for a bit more adventure, there are four backpacker/kayaker sites about two miles from the parking lot.

There are also about 20 cart-in sites less than half a mile from the lot that have incredible views of the lake and the lighthouse.

The park is also right on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail, which means easy access for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Plus, there's a nearby Pebble Beach that's perfect for just chilling out and watching for wildlife.
