Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The fire that broke out Thursday in rural NE Olmsted County caused extensive damage to a family’s home.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says the preliminary damage estimate was put at $360,000.

The fire was reported around 7:00 AM at the home located at 5010 48th St NE, owned by Kari and Joshua Kaus. Behrns says Kari Kaus was there when the fire broke out along with their two children, ages 4 years and 2 months. They were not injured.

The fire apparently began in the chimney area of the home.
