First of Rochester Parking Ramp Closures Starts Monday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The first of several parking ramp closures in downtown Rochester starts on Monday.
The Rochester Public Works Department says the closures allow crews to power wash the ramps and make minor repairs such as painting. The ramps close for about two days each spring.
The first of the downtown ramp closures will focus on the Mayo Civic Center parking ramp. Crews will close the ramp entrances at 2 p.m. Monday and all vehicles left in the ramp after 6 p.m. Monday will be towed.
Crews will then power wash and repaint the ramp as needed Monday night through Tuesday. The ramp is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday.
City officials say the Civic Center ramp is the only downtown parking structure closed for cleaning during the week due to the amount of activities that occur at the Mayo Civic Center and Rochester Public Library during the weekends.
Rochester Public Works has released the schedule for five other parking ramps due to get spring cleaning during the following weekends:
May 5 – 7, Center Street Ramp
May 19 – 21, 3rd Street Ramp
May 26 – 28, 2nd Street Ramp
June 2 – 4, Ramp 6
June 16 – 18, 1st Street Ramp
The entrances at those ramps will close at 2 p.m. on their scheduled Friday. Vehicles parked in those ramps after 6 p.m. will be towed. Crews will then clean and repair the ramps before they reopen by 5 a.m. on the following Monday.
