Spring in Minnesota is basically nature’s green light to get outside and do literally anything that doesn’t involve shoveling, even though we have those occasional April snow storms we all love.

Still, for a growing number of people around here, that means dusting off the disc golf bag and heading to the nearest course.

If that's you, I have some really cool news - Minnesota is crushing it. According to a LawnStarter ranking of the 500 biggest American cities, five Minnesota cities landed among the best places in the entire country for disc golf.

The rankings looked at everything from number of courses and local tournament activity to course ratings and even weather. And despite our shorter playing season, the North Star State held its own with two cities breaking into the top 10 nationwide.

If you’ve never played disc golf, trust me, it’s super fun. You’re basically just walking through the woods, tossing discs at baskets, and cheering yourself on when one actually goes where you wanted. It’s easygoing, affordable, and a great way to get some fresh air.

Five Minnesota Cities Among Best in America For Disc Golf:

Two Minnesota cities cracked the top 10 and the others weren’t far behind. Plymouth came in at number 17, followed by Brooklyn Park at 19th and Woodbury at 23 - all landing solidly in the top 25!

St. Paul landed at 6th, just behind Minneapolis, which snagged the number 5 spot. Meaning, the 5th best city in America for disc golf!

Minneapolis has 80 courses including some go-to faves like Bryant Lake Park and Hyland Hills (pictured above) offering everything from beginner-friendly holes to scenic lakeside challenges.
