Flood Warning Issued for Parts of Olmsted County
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southeastern Olmsted County and all of Winona County due to heavy overnight rain.
It will be in effect until noon Friday.
The Weather Service says as of 6:00 AM, “flooding was occurring across portions of the area.” Some rock and mudslides were also being reported.
Motorists are being advised to be on the lookout for flooded roads and washouts.
Cities in the affected area include Winona, Goodview, St. Charles, Chatfield, Eyota, Lewiston, Fountain City, Dover, Stockton, Rollingstone, Altura, Dakota, Marion, New Hartford, Wilson, Saratoga, Dresbach, Hart, Fremont, and Utica.
Rainfall totals include 2 ½ inches in Dover and 3 inches near Lewiston. Rochester received more than an inch of rain in some parts of the city.
And more rain is in the forecast for the area.
The Weather Service says there is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms storms Friday night through Saturday night with more than an inch of rain possible. Dry weather is expected most of next week.
