Eyota, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is now accepting public comments concerning the environmental review of a proposed expansion of a large fuel terminal just outside of Eyota. Magellan Pipeline wants to add a 5-million-gallon tank to its existing terminal at the junction of Highways 14 and 42 that first opened in 1966.

In addition to the new above ground tank, the company plans to install a new well, another truck loading bay, and a new vapor recovery unit to help meet the growing demand for fuel in the Rochester area. If it’s decided a more intensive Environmental Impact Statement is not required, construction could begin this spring and be completed in 12 to 18-months.

The Pollution Control Agency will hold a public informational meeting on the project at the Eyota Ambulance Building the evening of January 22nd. The Environmental worksheet can also be viewed on the MPCA website. The public comment period runs through the end of the business day on February 6th.

Written comments may be sent by email to steve.sommer@state.mn.us or mailed to him at the MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, MN 55155-4194.
