Fundraiser Started For Family of Rochester Teenager Killed in Car Accident
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A fundraiser has been started for the family of a Rochester teenager who was killed in a traffic wreck early Sunday.
The State Patrol says 16-year-old Haya Ambreen Mahmood was a passenger in a car driven by her 22-year-old brother, who apparently lost control while driving on Highway 52 south of Cannon Falls and crashed.
Mahmood was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The GoFundMe site has a goal of $10,000 and had raised $1900 as of Tuesday morning.
The site was organized by an uncle of the victims:
"Today we lost our baby girl Haya. My sister Sarah’s daughter, she was 16 years old. Her and her brother Danny were in an horrible accident that took her life and left her brother Danny fighting for his. I’m asking for any help I can to help my sister bury her daughter and also from her to be able to stay near her son while he is in the hospital."
