Go-Kart Racing Proposed in Cannon Falls

The Cannon Falls City Council Tuesday night had a discussion surrounding a proposal for a go-kart racing dirt track to be constructed on the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds.

Mayor Matt Montgomery gave KDHL his thoughts about the issue during the Wednesday, May 3, 2023 Cannon Falls Area News segment.

In a memo to the Mayor and City Council, City Administrator Neil Jensen stated, "I have had many residents question what the city will be doing about this issue."

Jeff Seubert of Welch runs the Mississippi Thunder Wings and Karts Summer Series at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin.

He negotiated with the Cannon Valley Fair Board to build a dirt track on the fairgrounds,

Eventually Seubert wants to hold approximately a dozen classes of go-karts and other vehicles for varying skill levels, ages and engine power.

Ideally Seubert wants the races to start this summer with four to six events held.

Cannon Falls City Attorney Shelley Ryan was also at the Tuesday meeting to answer any questions concerning the proposal.
