The Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team surged to No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 poll released Sunday after its 31-26 win against Penn State Saturday.

The No. 7 ranking is the highest ranking in the AP poll since it was No. 5 on Nov. 19 1962, according to Gophersports.com.

Minnesota has now won 11 straight games dating back to last season, which is tied for the third-longest winning streak in the nation. Clemson has the longest at 24 games and is followed by the Big Ten's Ohio State at 15. Minnesota and Baylor both have 11 wins straight, and are both 9-0 on the season.

The Golden Gophers are one of the five undefeated teams in college football and are 9-0 for the first time since 1904 and 6-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1961. The Gophers are also 13-2 in their last 15 games.

The Gophers will take on No. 22 Iowa next Saturday in Iowa City. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 pm.
