University Park, PA (Learfield sports) -- The Minnesota men's hockey team came from behind to tie the score in the third period at Penn State, but gave up a goal in overtime to lose 3-2.

The Gophers (8-10, 3-2) fell short in their attempt to reach the .500 mark.  Freshman forward Brent Gates Junior scored both goals for Minnesota, each coming on an assist from Vinni Lettieri.  Goaltender Eric Schierhorn set a new career mark for saves with 36. The same two teams wrap up the weekend series this afternoon.
