Minneapolis, MN (Gophersports.com) -- The last time Minnesota had defeated a top-five ranked team was March 2005, when it beat No. 3 Ohio State. History repeated itself Wednesday as the Gophers (19-9, 11-7 Big Ten) took down the No. 5 Buckeyes (23-5, 15-1 Big Ten) in overtime, 90-88.

The Gophers trailed by as much as 11 at one point, but they came back and sent the game to overtime. A last-second baseline jump shot by Carlie Wagner gave the Gophers a two-point lead, which was all they needed to take down the Buckeyes.

Rachel Banham had 35 points, and Wagner had 26. Jessie Edwards and Joanna Hedstrom each had double-digit rebounds, grabbing 12 and 10 boards respectively.

Shayla Cooper led the Buckeyes, scoring 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Alexa Hart also had a double-double for Ohio State, with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

MORE NOTES

*The last time the Gophers defeated a team ranked in the USA Today poll was in January when they beat No. 20 Northwestern. The last time they beat a team ranked in the AP poll was last February when the took down Iowa.

* With 777 points, Rachel Banham broke her own Minnesota record for most points in a season. Her previous record was 750 set in the 2013-14 season.

*With 10 triples in the game, the Gophers now have 156 this year and set a new Big Ten record for most threes in a season in conference games. The previous record of 150 was set by Ohio State last year.

*Banham moved into 12th on the NCAA all-time scoring list, passing Valorie Whiteside with 2,956 points.

*Minnesota is undefeated in conference overtime games this season.

*This was the first Big Ten game this year in which multiple Gophers had double-digit rebounds (Edwards 12, Hedstrom 10).
