Gov. Dayton Is Wearing A Body Cast
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton says he'll be working from home for a couple more weeks as he recovers from a recent hip surgery.
Dayton spoke by phone with reporters Tuesday, the opening day of the legislative session. He says he's still in a body cast and will be into March. After that, doctors at the Mayo Clinic want him to wear a brace that limits his mobility.
The 67-year-old governor had surgery to alleviate chronic hip pain. Dayton hasn't altered his plan to seek a new term this fall.
He has been meeting with staff, commissioners and lawmakers from the governor's residence a couple miles from the Capitol.
But Dayton says he is eager to get back to his old routine and be "a closer part of what's going on."
