Guilty Plea in 206-Gram Meth Bust on Highway 52 in Rochester

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has entered a guilty plea in a drug case involving a significant amount of methamphetamine.

According to the criminal complaint against 54-year-old Mary Xiong Yang, she was pulled over by Rochester Police  on Highway 52 in May of last year. The court document says the arresting officer initiated the traffic stop after observing multiple traffic violations.

The charges state that Yang exhibited signs of impairment and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

K-9 Search Leads to Meth Discovery

The criminal complaint says a K-9 was then deployed to inspect the vehicle and alerted to the presence of drugs. A search led to the discovery of more than 206 grams of methamphetamine in Yang's purse.

Admitted to Drug Use

The court document also indicates that, prior to her arrest, Yang informed the officer that she had used methamphetamine, and testing of a urine sample detected the presence of the drug in her body.

Plea Deal

Yang was charged with first-degree drug possession and two misdemeanor counts of DWI.

Under a plea agreement, Yang admitted to a second-degree drug possession charge and one of the DWI offenses. She is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
