Montevideo, MN (MNN)- The goaltender on the national champion Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team is dead after a crash west of Willmar in Chippewa County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says an SUV driven by 19-year-old Gianna Gasparini of Lakeville collided with a van driven by 28-year-old Brandi Rasmussen of Benson at the intersection of Highways 40 and 29 on Sunday afternoon.

The report says Gasparini's passenger and teammate, 19-year-old Jori Jones of Little Canada, died of her injuries at the hospital in Montevideo.

Gasparini and passengers, Lily Mortenson of Champlin and Kayla Bluhm of Chisago City suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Rasmussen was taken to a Benson hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
