Head-On Crash With Snow Plow Sends Southeast Minnesota Woman to Hospital
Tower, MN (KROC-AM News)- A head-on crash between a Jeep and a snowplow sent a southeast Minnesota woman to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
The State Patrol responded to the collision shortly before 3:30 p.m. It happened in northern Minnesota’s St. Louis County.
The state crash report says the Jeep, driven by 64-year-old Joann Collins Smerage of Winona, was traveling north on an icy stretch of state Hwy. 169 just west of Tower.
Smerage lost control of the Jeep on the slick highway and the vehicle began spinning. The Jeep struck a snow plow truck head on.
She was taken from the scene to a hospital in Virginia with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries. Smerage was buckled up and not under the influence of alcohol, the report says.
The operator of the plow truck is identified as 59-year-old Douglas Joel Briski of Iron, MN. He was not hurt.
