With great health care systems like CentraCare, Mayo Clinic and others, Minnesota is among the very best places in the country for nurses.
While nurses make a decent wage (generally speaking) with an average salary of over $98,000, nursing is a very challenging career filled with many demanding aspects.
MINNESOTA GREAT FOR NURSES
Minnesota ranked as the seventh-best state in the USA for nurses, according to WalletHub. Their study focused on opportunities/competition for nursing jobs as well as the state's work environment for nurses.
“Nurses are among the most essential workers in the country, as we’ve seen all too well over the past few years. Since they work in such a demanding profession, nurses deserve to work in places that will compensate them appropriately and offer them reasonable working conditions," said WalletHub's Chip Lupo. "The best states for nurses have high salaries, mandatory overtime limits, high-quality health care facilities and plenty of job opportunities.”
In the main categories, Minnesota finished 21st for opportunities/competition and seventh overall for work environment, leading to its seventh-overall ranking in the study.
The WalletHub study found Minnesota to have the second-most health care facilities per capita and the lowest average number of work hours compared to other states.
