Heavy Rain Misses Rochester Area; Get Ready For A Heatwave
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A lot of thunder and lightning but not a lot of rain.
Thunderstorms developed early Thursday across southeast Minnesota but it appears most areas did not receive the heavy rain that had caused concern Wednesday.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the region due to the threat of 2 - 4 inches of rain. The Rochester airport received just over an inch as of 6:00 AM Thursday and the St Marys heliport recorded less than four-tenths of an inch.
There is a chance for more storms and severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening.
The Weather Service is now expressing concern about a two-day heatwave that could produce heat index readings as high as 105 degrees Thursday and Friday.
