The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking for part-time help.

During his monthly appearance on Rochester Today with Tracy McCray and Andy Brownell, MnDOT Public Affairs Coordinator Mike Doherty spread the word about the need for temporary snowplow operators to supplement the Transportation Department's regular staff during the upcoming winter season.

Doherty says the agency is looking for experienced commercial drivers with clean driving records interested in helping to keep the state's highways free of snow and ice when the nasty weather arrives.  Anyone interested, should visit the MnDOT website.

Mike also used is regular visit to the KROC-AM studio to update listeners on the progress being made on the various highway construction projects taking place in southeastern Minnesota. He says the huge Highway 52 interchange project in Cannon Falls is winding down, and noted crews shutdown and removed the final traffic signal between Rochester and the Twin Cities this week.  Doherty says the reconstruction of I-90 in Winona County is nearing completion, as is the work on Highway 63 south of Stewartville.

As always, he advised travelers to use MnDOT's 511 website to obtain the most recent information about roadwork and travel conditions.
