The closure marks of the beginning of the second year of one of Minnesota’s largest road projects.
Multiple detours will be in place during the closures.

Hwy. 52 Detour at I-90 Interchange Near Rochester, MN Begins April 8
Starting Tuesday, April 8, Hwy. 52 will be closed in both directions at the highway’s interchange with Interstate 90 southeast of Rochester.
The closure, which also includes the eastbound I-90 onramp, is scheduled to end on April 12. Southbound Hwy. 52 traffic will be re-routed south on Highway 63 in Rochester to eastbound I-90 at Stewartville.
To continue south on Highway 52, mototis will exit eastbound I-90 at Exit 224 in Eyota, travel south on Olmsted County Road 7 and reconnect with Hwy. 52 north of Chatfield.
Northbound Highway 52 traffic seeking Rochester will be routed north on Olmsted County Road 7 and enter westbound I-90 at the Eyota interchange. The ramp connecting westbound I-90 and northbound Hwy. 52 will remain open.
Also starting in April I-90 traffic at the interchange will be reduced to a single lane in both directions. The closure is to accommodate the demolition of the eastbound I-90 overpass at the interchange.
The same detour will be in place from April 12-November as Hwy. 52 will be closed south of the interstate. Motorists will be able to access the I-90 eastbound onramp from Hwy. 52 after April 12, MnDOT says.
From April 8 through November, northbound Hwy. 52 traffic seeking the interstate will be rerouted to Olmsted County Rd. 7. Eastbound I-90 traffic seeking Hwy. 52 will be rerouted to the detour at the Eyota exit from April 7- November.
The work is to accommodate year two of a three year project to transform the interchange.
The plans call for adding a flyover ramp connecting southbound Hwy. 52 and eastbound I-90, altering the ramp loops at the interchange and replacing the I-90 overpasses.
