Homeless Man Charged With Rochester Scissors Attack
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail was set at $100,000 today after 28-year-old David Galvan was arraigned in Olmsted County Court on a second-degree assault charge stemming from a scissors attack Wednesday afternoon in southwest Rochester.
Galvan, who is considered homeless, is accused of jabbing a 24-year-old woman in the back with scissors. The victim is a teacher for the Rochester Arts and Science Academy and was with a group of students from the private school when the attack occurred. Rochester Police indicated she suffered a small puncture wound on her back and was transported to St. Marys Hospital for treatment.
Rochester Police reported dozens of incidents involving Galvan over the past two years, including his arrest last month for breaking into an elderly woman’s home and barricading himself in a bedroom. His bail in that case was set at $1,000.
His next court appearance on the felony assault charge has been scheduled on October 23rd.
